 ABOUT ELECTRICITY

Electricity is the presence and flow of electric current. Using electricity, we can transfer energy in ways that allow us to do simple chores.[1] Its best-known form is the flow of electrons through conductors such as copper wires.GGG

ELECTRICITY

Generating electrical energy

Electrical energy is mostly generated in places called power stations. Most power stations use heat to boil water into steam which turns a steam engine. The steam engine's turbine turns a machine called a 'generator'. Coiled wires inside the generator are made to spin in a magnetic field. This causes electricity to flow through the wires, carrying electrical energy. This process is called electromagnetic induction. Michael Faraday discovered how to do this.
                                                            ABOUT ELECTRICITY

Why is electricity important?
Electricity is central to many parts of life in modern societies and will become even more so as its role in transport and heating expands through widening use of electric vehicles and heat pumps.

Why does it matter to energy security?
The current global energy crisis has placed electricity security and affordability high on the political agenda, favouring renewable solutions.

Electricity is a secondary energy source
Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. Electricity is both a basic part of nature and one of the most widely used forms of energy.

Static electricity exists in nature
Lightning is a form of electricity. Lightning is electrons moving from one cloud to another or electrons jumping from a cloud to the ground. Have you ever felt a shock when you touched an object after walking across a carpet? A stream of electrons jumped to you from that object. This is called static electricity

World electricity use
Below is a graph depicting world electricity generation and how it has grown in recent decades. Notice how electricity use is growing faster than energy use, both of which are growing faster than the world population. The different drop down menus change which countries or regions are shown, along with the type of graph used and the variables considered. Take note of relative electricity generation. Europe has about 1 billion people, North America has about 500 million, and Asia has almost 4 billion.

How is it generated?
For a more in depth look please visit the page: electricity generation.
Electricity is generated in a number of different ways. All of these methods require either a fuel or a primary energy flow. Primary fuels for generation include (to name a few) coal, natural gas, and uranium, while primary flows include tides, wind, and solar.

Types of electricity:

There are two types of electricity, such as:

1.Static electricity: Friction is created by rubbing or contacting two or several items together and is called static electricity.
2.Current electricity: The movement of electrical charge via a conductor throughout an electrical field produces a voltage called current electricity.
