ABOUT SPORTS CAR

Model T, automobile built by the Ford Motor Company from 1908 until 1927. Conceived by Henry Ford as practical, affordable transportation for the common man, it quickly became prized for its low cost, durability, versatility, and ease of maintenance. More than 15 million Model Ts were built in Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan.

The Model T was offered in several body styles, including a five-seat touring car, a two-seat runabout, and a seven-seat town car. All bodies were mounted on a uniform 100-inch-wheelbase chassis. A choice of colours was originally available, but from 1913 to 1925 the car was mass-produced in only one colour—black. The engine was simple and efficient, with all four cylinders cast in a single block and the cylinder head detachable for easy access  and repair.                                                                                                       Some car buffs will refer to high-performance muscle cars and other larger vehicles as sports cars. Others, however, draw a distinction between these vehicles and "true" sports cars. These individuals will claim that a car can be a "sporting car" or simply "sporty" but still fall short of being a true sports car. Thus, "regular" cars may be outfitted with a "sports package" and/or accessories to make the car sportier, but may not fit a strict definition of a sports car.

SPORTS CAR                                               There is no clear-cut definition of what really is a sports car. The restrictive definitions of the past seem ill suited to categorize today's' diverse automotive offerings and common usage of the term runs contrary to most long-held definitions.
Enhanced Handling At Speed
If we place the same example cars on the same racetrack in "stock" trim, and assume that their drivers are equally skilled at driving high-performance vehicles, how well each vehicle performs in terms of cornering ability will depend as much on the nature and design of the track as it will on the inherent handling characteristics of each vehicle.

Do Real Sports Cars Still Exist?

Harking back to the British experience, a modern sports car would be purposely designed and constructed to out-steer, out-brake, out-accelerate, out-handle, and generally out-perform "normal" cars in the same or comparable weight classes.
